We highly recommend putting a QR code on your printed flyers because it makes it much easier for people to reach your fundraising page. They just point their smartphone camera at the code and it takes them straight to the online pledge page, with no long URL to type.
Tips:
For printed materials, always include both the URL and the QR code.
You can add a QR code to online material too, but it isn't necessary, since people can simply click a link to get to the page.
There are 2-3 QR codes that you can obtain for your fundraiser (#3 pertains to AddeMe setups only).
Your fundraiser's built-in QR codes
Every fundraiser now comes with its own QR codes. You'll find them on both the public facing main fundraiser page and each participant page.
To view and download a QR code:
Open the main fundraiser page or a participant's page.
Click Share Fundraiser (below the fundraising progress box) to open the share options.
You'll see the page link, with a Copy Link button, and the QR code for that page.
Click Download QR code to save the image for your flyers or other materials.
Another great use case: A parent (or participant) can simply pull their qr code or their participant fundraiser page up on their device and display to a potential donor so that they can easily scan and donate! Easy peasy!
Main Fundraiser Page:
Participant Page:
Each QR code goes to the page it came from. The QR code on the main page opens the main fundraiser, and the QR code on a participant page opens that participant's page.
QR code for your AddMe link
If you've turned on Let participants add themselves (also called AddMe), your fundraiser also has a QR code for your AddMe link. Parents can scan it to go straight to the page where they add their child to the fundraiser, instead of landing on the main page. It's perfect for flyers sent home in backpacks or posted at school events.
To find and download your add-me QR code:
Sign into your Admin account (sign in here)
Navigate to the Edit Details tab.
Scroll down to the Advanced section.
Check the box for Let participants add themselves, click ok to the popup.
Your AddMe link and its QR code will appear just below that option.
Click Download QR code to save the image.
Test before you print!
Before you print flyers in bulk, scan the QR code with your phone and make sure it opens the page you expect. A quick test now can save you a costly reprint later. If you change or customize the backend of your fundraiser url, you will need to generate and save a new QR code. QR codes are best left to one of the last steps.
